The American Diabetes Association’s (ADA’s) Diabetes Prevention Alliance (DPA) is a multi-sectoral network aimed at facilitating a sustainable strategy to address health equity and scale diabetes prevention.

The DPA works with health care partners across Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Florida to promote the National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) to at-risk populations.

Impact

Enhanced Patient Outcomes

Through the DPA, approaches move from a reactive treatment to proactive prevention, with weight loss, improved activity, better nutrition, and reduced A1C levels.

Community Health Impact

A holistic approach to diabetes prevention positively impacts the overall health of the communities where the National DPP is offered.

Thought Leadership

Participating in the DPA and promoting the National DPP positions health care systems as leaders in innovative and preventative care and aligns their efforts with the ADA.

Business Growth

For health care systems, prevention means reduced costs associated with long-term management of diabetes and its complications and improvement in quality metrics to support incentives.

Comprehensive Support

The DPA offers provider education resources related to identification and referral and a patient education library complete with resources for patient education and marketing.
