The ADA Scholars program offers a career development program for early-career professionals who treat and/or research diabetes and its complications. Participants who are accepted into this program will:
- Receive practical guidance on career development
- Develop relationships amongst attendees
- Interact with senior leaders in the field
Program Overview
- Virtual and in-person professional education opportunities will be offered
- Sprint lectures and mini workshops, including networking opportunities
- Series of career development workshops will be offered throughout the year
- 2024 in-person programming will take place at the 84th Scientific Sessions in Orlando, FL
- Professional Development sessions will be available focusing on different career stages
- NOTE: Attendees who participate in the ADA Scholars program may be eligible for complimentary registration to the 84th Scientific Sessions and a complimentary one-year ADA Professional Membership.
Applications
Applicants are required to complete an online form that includes evidence of qualifications, current position with fellowship director or mentor contact details, and a definition of both current and future area(s) of interest. Applicants will be verified by their program directors prior to approval.
Eligibility for this program is limited to early-career professionals who meet one of the following requirements:
- Medical residents who are confirmed in an ACGME-accredited program.
- Graduate student (master or doctoral) at an accredited college or university
- Fellows currently enrolled or were recently enrolled (2 years out) in a pediatric endocrinology, adult endocrinology, diabetes, or other related fellowship program.
- Early career clinician or research scientist (within 2 years of fellowship or postdoc completion).
Commitment
Early-career professionals must participate in the ADA Scholars in-person or virtual program activities. As a part of the program, active participants may be eligible to receive complimentary registration to the 84th Scientific Sessions and the ADA's Clinical Update Conference, and a complimentary one-year ADA Professional Membership.
The 2024 ADA Scholars program application is now closed. The ADA Scholars virtual program, in partnership with Diabetes Virtual Camp will take place on July 19–August 2.
The 2025 ADA Scholars in-person programming will take place at the 85th Scientific Sessions in Chicago, IL on June 19-20, 2025.
Applications will open in January 2025.
