Abstracts FAQ

Regular Abstract submission will be open from September 30, 2024 until January 6, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Late Breaking Abstract submission will be open from January 27, 2025 until March 10, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Yes, a non-refundable $90.00 (USD) processing fee is charged per regular abstract submission. A non-refundable $135.00 (USD) processing fee is charged per late breaking abstract submission. 

 

No, you are not required to be an ADA member to submit an abstract.

No, case studies are not a standard format submitted to Scientific Sessions.

There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit; however, an author may only serve as the Presenting Author on two regular submission abstracts and one late breaking abstract submission. It is the author’s responsibility to designate a new presenter for presentation conflicts that arise due to multiple submissions.

The author listed first in the author block is referred to as the first author. The first author does not have to serve as the presenting author. The presenting author can be any author listed in the author block.

No, abstracts must not have been presented at another national or international meeting held prior to the 85th Scientific Sessions (June 20–23, 2025). 

Regular Abstract Submission: In early-March 2025, a letter will be emailed to the abstract's presenting author, notifying him/her of the abstract's acceptance status.

Late Breaking Abstract Submission: In early-April 2025, a letter will be emailed to the abstract's presenting author, notifying him/her of the abstract's acceptance status.

To ensure receipt of your notification, it is important that you provide a correct email address for the presenting author.

Abstract titles, authors, and presentation details will be released on May 19, 2025 in our mobile app and Online Planner. Information will be available on our website with instructions on how to download the app.

The presenter must be a co-author listed on the abstract at the time of submission. If the original designated presenting author is unable to attend the Scientific Sessions, it is their responsibility to assign a co-author and inform the ADA. To make a presenting author change, please email abstracts@diabetes.org with the name and email address of the new presenting author. Please include the abstract title, control number, and/or presentation number.

Young Investigator awards will be given to a limited number of authors of abstracts that have been accepted for oral or poster presentation at the 85th Scientific Sessions. Applications will be sent to presenting authors at the time of abstract acceptance notification in early-March. We do not offer travel grants for abstracts accepted during late breaking submission.

Those who have received a travel grant from the ADA within the past two years (2023 or 2024) are not eligible.

No changes of any kind may be made after the deadline. 

No. All author information should be carefully reviewed for accuracy prior to completing the abstract submission. Additions or deletions of author names are not permitted after the submission deadline.
