Know Diabetes by Heart™ is a collaborative initiative between the American Diabetes Association® (ADA) and the American Heart Association® (AHA) with one goal—to reduce cardiovascular death, heart attack, stroke, and heart failure in people with type 2 diabetes.

Our initiative, fueled by the latest evidence-based guidelines and recommendations, helps you provide quality care and supports your practice as a critical member of the diabetes care team. As a health care professional, you play a vital role in improving outcomes for the people you see through awareness, education, consumer and professional resources, and the latest science. 

Know Diabetes by Heart provides the following education opportunities at no cost:

  • Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) in Type 2 Diabetes for Health Care Professionals: This FREE self-paced four-module education course keeps the busy clinician in mind. Access content at your convenience that will help you apply updated recommendations and guidelines on diabetes care to real-life scenarios.
  • Case Study Competition: This fun, interactive competition is an opportunity to test and sharpen your diabetes and CVD knowledge and discover real-life scenarios applicable to your practice. Compete with fellow health care professionals and climb the leaderboard every week for a chance to win the grand prize of a free ADA professional membership for one year! Restrictions apply.
