“I became an ADA member during my first year as a new faculty member. In that early stage of my career, being an ADA member was mostly about attending and presenting at the Scientific Sessions, where I had access to learning about the cutting edge in diabetes research and diabetes care. "Sci Sessions" continues to be an opportunity to not only be updated on the latest in my field of research, but a chance to step out of my silo and be educated on topics outside of my own area. As I have moved through my career, Sci Sessions became a platform for networking and meeting with friends and colleagues, senior members of my field, grants officers, and collaborators."
