Dr. Rama Natarajan is a renowned leader in the field of diabetes-related vascular complications. Her research on epigenetics and non-coding RNAs in diabetic complications has been internationally recognized. She has published over 200 articles in prestigious journals She also evaluates novel translational approaches for the management of diabetic complications.
Dr. Natarajan has received numerous Awards and Honors, including the Edwin Bierman Award from the ADA, the Distinguished Scientist Award and Women’s leadership award from the American Heart Association (ATVB council), and Elected Fellow of the AAAS. Her work has been continually funded for 30 years by the NIH. She is very active in mentoring and training and has served in leadership roles in multiple organizations, including serving as Chair of the Women’s Leadership and Mentoring committee of the American Heart Association’s ATVB Councli, as well as on Peer review and advisory committees for the NIH and NIDDK.
