Maureen Monaghan, PhD, CDCES, is the Program Director for Diabetes Behavioral Science at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), where she provides scientific and administrative oversight for research on behavioral science applications for diabetes care. Dr. Monaghan also is a licensed clinical psychologist, certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES), and an Adjunct Associate Professor at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her research has focused on psychosocial factors associated with optimal diabetes self-care and related glycemic indicators in youth with type 1 diabetes, with a particular interest in supporting adolescents and young adults during the transition from pediatric-focused to adult-focused diabetes care.
