Mandeep Bajaj, MBBS, FRCP 

Dr. Mandeep Bajaj is the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Medicine and a Professor of Medicine and Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is the Chief of the Section of Endocrinology at Baylor St Luke’s Medical Center and the Medical Director of the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Diabetes Program as well as the Baylor Medicine Endocrinology practice.

Dr. Bajaj has played a key leadership role in the development and expansion of diabetes care in Houston over the last 16 years. He has directed an outstanding program in diabetes care at Baylor Medicine incorporating state of the art technology and diabetes education. As Chief of Endocrinology at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, he also directs an inpatient diabetes program taking care of hospitalized patients with diabetes and developing initiatives to improve the quality of diabetes care. He was awarded the Master Clinician Lifetime Award which is the highest faculty honor for clinical excellence for his stellar and enduring contributions to diabetes care by Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Bajaj is a reputed clinical researcher in obesity and type 2 diabetes and has over 100 publications. His work has delineated the metabolic and molecular mechanisms of insulin resistance in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and the effect of PPAR-gamma agonists and GLP-1 receptor agonists on hepatic fat and glucose metabolism. He is the Editor-In-Chief of British Medical Journal Open Diabetes Research and Care published jointly by the ADA and the BMJ Group. He currently serves as President-elect, Medicine & Science, of the ADA.
