Viswanathan Mohan, MD, PhD, DSc FACP, FACE

Viswanathan Mohan, MD, PhD, DSc FACP, FACE, is chairman of the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation and Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialties Centre in Chennai, India. His main research interests are epidemiology of diabetes and its complications, genomics of diabetes (including monogenic diabetes), precision diabetes, and nutrition in diabetes. 

He is a practicing clinician who believes that today’s research will become tomorrow’s practice. Dr. Mohan has published 1,057 original articles which have attracted over 198,000 citations and has a h-index of 154. In 2012, he was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India. In 2018, Dr. Mohan received the Dr. Harold Rifkin Award for Distinguished International Service in the Cause of Diabetes from the American Diabetes Association.
