Dr. Shulman is the George R. Cowgill professor of medicine and cellular & molecular physiology at Yale University, an investigator emeritus of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and co-director of the Yale Diabetes Research Center. Dr. Shulman has pioneered the use of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to examine intracellular glucose and fat metabolism in humans that have led to several paradigm shifts in our understanding of type 2 diabetes and have led to the development of novel drugs for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
