Member Frequently Asked Questions | American Diabetes Association

The expiration date of your membership can be found on your membership card, as well as on your journal label above your name and address. You can also view your account, check your expiration date, and update your information on your Membership Profile.

Your membership number can be found on your membership card or journal label above your name and address area. You can also obtain your membership number online. (Note: Access to ADA professional journals requires a nine-digit number; most other uses require the eight-digit number found on your journal address label or your membership card. If a nine-digit number is needed, simply add a "zero” to the front of the membership number.)

You can receive a receipt for your membership dues by contacting American Diabetes Association Professional Membership Customer Service at U.S. 1-800-232-3472 | International 703-253-4999 or by emailing us at membership@diabetes.org.

From time to time, you will receive renewal notices via the mail and/or email.  Upon receipt, please respond either through the business reply envelope from the mailed version or click on the renew button from the electronic renewal notice. You can also renew your membership anytime online, by calling American Diabetes Association Professional Membership Customer Service at U.S. 1-800-232-3472 | International 703-253-4999, or by emailing us at membership@diabetes.org.

Changing your address can be done through your Membership Profile. When renewing your membership, you may also send in your new address on your renewal notice with your payment.

If you have already renewed your membership and continue to receive a renewal notice, please keep in mind it can take several weeks for your payment to process. If it has been less than three weeks since you sent your payment, please disregard the renewal notice. If it has been three weeks or more since you renewed, please check the status of your last payment.

Information about all of the American Diabetes Association’s journals can be found on our journals description page. You can subscribe to them on your Membership Profile.

The ADA does not refund membership dues, except in the case of accidental duplicate payments.

If you send a second or duplicate payment for an ADA membership, the second/duplicate payment is automatically applied to your membership and your membership expiration date is extended. If you choose to cancel the second/duplicate payment, the ADA will reimburse you for the unused portion of the second/duplicate payment. For further assistance, please contact ADA Professional Membership Customer Service at U.S. 1-800-232-3472 | International 703-253-4999, or email us at membership@diabetes.org.

The ADA does not transfer memberships from one name to another. The existing membership must remain in the name of the original recipient. To change a name due to a legal change such as marital status, please call ADA Professional Membership Customer Service at U.S. 1-800-232-2472 | International 703-253-4999, or email us at membership@diabetes.org.
