Research Programs Home

The basic purpose of the American Diabetes Association's Research Program is to further our mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. To that end, our Research Program spans the full spectrum of diabetes research and supports investigators in all stages of their careers.

Our grant programs offer project-based funding in a variety of award categories: Research, Development, Training, Co-Support and Targeted Requests for Applications (RFAs). The newly launched Pathway to Stop Diabetes research initiative offers limited submission opportunities that provide open-ended, rather than project‑based, funding support.

With all of our awards, our primary goal is to make a unique contribution that will accelerate the search for the prevention and cure of diabetes and its complications.
