69th Scientific Sessions (2009)

General Information

Abstract Book
The Scientific Sessions Abstract Book (the June 2009 Supplement to the journal Diabetes) will be provided free of charge at the meeting to all meeting registrants. Abstracts will also be available online two weeks prior to the meeting.

Poster Sessions and Presentations
All abstracts selected as posters will be displayed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, June 6-8, in the Poster Hall (Hall D/E, Morial Convention Center). Poster presenters will be at their posters for scheduled two-hour sessions on one of three days, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. One-hour Poster Session Receptions will be held on Saturday and Sunday evenings in the Poster Hall. Look for a forthcoming presentation schedule in March 2009.

Diabetes Education Program - Poster Session
Back by popular demand, there will be a special poster session at this year’s meeting focusing on the latest creative methods developed from successful education programs, tools and resources. The Diabetes Education Program Poster Session will be on Monday, June 8, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM in the Poster Hall. The Diabetes Education Program Reception will occur on Sunday, June 7 from 6:30 PM - 7:45 PM. Take this opportunity to learn about education ideas and innovations from your colleagues.

Interest Group Discussion Sessions
Discussion sessions provide an opportunity for attendess to discuss subjects of mutual interest. The following Interest Groups are scheduled to host discussion sessions this year:

Exhibit Hall
Plan to visit the world's largest exposition of diabetes-related products, services, and technology at the Morial Convention Center. During ADA's Scientific Sessions, over 175 companies will showcase the newest and most innovative products and services available to health care professionals working in the field of diabetes. The exhibit hall will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Scientific Sessions Opening Reception

Scientific Session attendees and exhibitors are invited to attend the Opening Reception, which will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Join your colleages for a fun event, and see some of N'Awlins! 


5K @ ADA
The 5K @ ADA supported by Novo Nordisk, will be held on Sunday, June 7, at 6:30 a.m. Limited shuttles will be provided to the starting point (Jackson Square) from select Scientific Sessions hotels. We’ve added a fund-raising component to this years’ run. Use the form on the 5K @ ADA website to solicit funds from your neighbors, friends, colleagues and vendors. For every $500 you raise, we’ll give you a $25 gift certificate good towards your purchases in the ADA Bookstore on-site.
This year’s course will start & finish from historic Jackson Square in the French Quarter.
 
Race packets can be picked up at the 5K @ ADA desk in the registration area on Thursday, June 4 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. or on Friday, June 5 from 9:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, June 6th, the packets will be available for pick-up from the Novo Nordisk booth in the exhibit hall from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
 
Donations/Contributions will be accepted in the registration area during the registration hours throughout the conference. In addition to the $25 ADA Bookstore gift certificate per $500 raised, the top fund-raiser will receive a complete set of Medical Management books along with the new ADA/PRR.

Corporate Symposia
Corporate Symposia are programs that are planned and conducted by the corporate community in conjunction with the American Diabetes Association's 69th Scientific Sessions. These session will provide attendees with additional educational/informational opportunities. The program content and product information contained in these sessions are the sole responsibility of the corporate supporters. Online registration for Corporate Symposia will be available in April 2009.
