The Scientific Sessions are held in June each year and provide an opportunity for members of the diabetes community from around the world to participate in the largest annual research and clinical meeting on diabetes. Sessions focus on the latest information in the areas of basic and clinical research and on the application of this information to clinical practice.

5K@ADA
Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m., 562 runners and 158 walkers departed San Francisco's Embarcadero Plaza for the 5K@ADA fun run sponsored by novo Nordisk. Ian Lanza of Rochester, MN, was the first to complete the scenic five-kilometer course, which took participants alongside the bay, by the stadium, and past several stunning sculptures. Emily Mitchel of Hermosa Beach, CA, was the top female finisher. In all, more than 1,500 ADA attendees registered for the event.
